Yet Another Tech Group Forms in Ann Arbor

Last night, I attended the first meeting of WordPress Ann Arbor. This group is for bloggers and publishers using WP, as well as developers developing for WP.

The organizers plan to have a presentation at every meeting given by a local WordPress professional. Last night’s meeting was given by Ross Johnson of 3.7 Designs. The topic was “WordPress Horsepower, 10 Ways To Speed Up WordPress.”

It was a very good presentation, and even though I’ve been using and developing for WordPress for several years, I learned a few new tricks. Ross says that he will post his slides to the WordPress Ann Arbor Web site, so look for it there if you had to miss the meeting.

More than 30 people crammed into one of the meeting rooms at the downtown Ann Arbor library yesterday for this first meeting. It was an enthusiastic bunch, too. I think this bodes well for this group. I know I’m looking forward to the next meeting.
